  • I used to order from Am-Thai all the time from when I would stay in brooklyn and I really like the food. So sad I have moved and can't get their food anymore :( And yes, the mock duck is the best that I've ever had! There really is not much option for seating as it is mainly a take-out kind of place. I usually ordered the mango duck and scallion cakes/dumplings but, the other things I have had from there like the coconut curry or the cashew curry were delicious also. They are very open to altering the food for you as well. Every delivery was prompt and every order was always exact! I highly recommend it!

  • Awesome food. Stopped by today and ordered the Eggplant D-lite and the Hot Pot Dumplings. The dumplings were good but not amazing - peanut and radish in steamed dumplings served with a bit of lettuce and cilantro. But the Eggplant was amazing!
For atmosphere they could totally add a small table or two and put one or two outside...
The owners also seem to own Em-Thai in Carroll Gardens and Bodhi Tree in Manhattan - each of which also seems to have the exact same menu but for a little more $, so if you aren't in the area and can't bike I suggest trying one of the other locations.

  • OWNER IS DISGUSTING IN HER SCREAMING AT ME TODAY!!! I simply asked her what kind of oil do they use. She started screaming at me how she is a business, how she is busy, that she uses "salad oil." What is in the salad oil I asked. She gave me a number, try it, 7188339700, its just like her, two voices screaming on the voicemail, at the same time. I asked her the name of the company that makes the oil so i can research it, she says "you arent my boss, you cant make me tell you." DIsgusting.

  • this is probably the best thai food i have ever had. i'm not the biggest fan of fake meats, but the mock duck is delicious. it is crispy and chewy and absorbs the flavor of the dish really well. the lemongrass mock duck is really good, though i thought the red curry string bean dish was even better. unlike most thai curries, it isn't rich because it isn't coconut milk based. it has lots of lime leaves and just the right amount of spice. i had the spicy basil tofu once and it was really, really spicy. a lot of places tone down the spice for gringo-types, but not this place. i just wish you could dine in. the lone table seems to be reserved for the delivery people and orders waiting to be picked up.

  • The "moc" duck section of this menu is one of the best I've ever had. I'm usually disappointed but not so here. They infuse the "meat" with the flavor of each dish. Spicy red sauce with string bean, spicy bamboo and lemongrass. Delicious!!! Last night I had the Pad Gra Pow with veg and tofu and I wolfed it down, it was so good. The Jade Dumplings and the Hot Pot Dumplings are also to die. Yes, it's not exactly a sit-down joint but every time I've ordered and picked up food for a group and they give us a free appetizer of our choice. Sweet!

  • Tthe crispy mock duck lemongrass is unbelievably delish! Unfortunately, the garlic version is way too spicy for me. And the hot pot dumplings are an addictive, yummy peanut-centered appetizer, though they don't always have them. Nice to have one place with vegan options in my immediate hood! (Though opt for takeout, not to dine in; there are two or so small cramped tables, which are usually occupied by the kids of the people who work there and/or being used to prepare dishes anyway.)
